Herbs

Little Window uses a combination of pills, granules and crude herbs to formulate the most appropriate medicine for your unique situation.

  • Pills

Pills or capsules are considered the simplest, cheapest and most gentle administration of herbal medicine. These are a great option for those who struggle with the unfamiliar taste of Chinese herbs, or who require the convenience of having something that is easily transportable.

Using pre-made formulations, pills and capsules cannot be modified or tailored to the individual. However, dosage and administration may be adjusted to suit the individual. Pills are a great option for straightforward conditions or as an accompaniment to granules or crude herbs.

Little Window stocks traditional and modern formulas from Black Pearl, China Med and Empirical Health Honey Pearls.

Pills generally cost approximately $20-60 for approximately 1-2 months, depending on manufacturer.

  • Granules

Granules are more potent than pills, using extracts of raw herbs that have been decocted (boiled) with all moisture removed, resulting in a fine powder similar to instant coffee that is dissolved in hot water and drunk like a tea.

Granules may be prescribed in traditional formulations, or compounded with single ingredients, allowing your medicine to be prescribed specifically to your unique circumstances.

Little Window uses the highest quality granules available from KPC and KO DA, manufactured in Taiwan. This extraction process of granulation is considered to be one of the safest methods of administration as any impurities are removed in the process.

Granules are charged at a flat rate of 70 cents per gram, with one week’s worth of herbs costing approximately $45 depending on dosage and administration.

  • Crude / Raw herbs

This is the most potent way to take herbs, which are dispensed in ‘packets’ in their crude/raw form, which are then boiled up like a broth, with the liquid strained and then drunk like a tea. This is often recommended for acute conditions, and like granules, your formula is tailor made for your specific circumstances. The boiling method is considered one of the safest methods as any remaining impurities are removed during the cooking process.

You’ll generally receive between 1 and 5 packets of herbs, with one packet usually lasting a couple of days.

Little Window sources the highest grade certified organic and AAA graded herbs from Empirical Health, based in Port Macquarie.

Crude herbs are between $15-25 per packet, depending on the cost of the individual herbs involved, with one week’s herbs costing approximately $45-75.
